How to Install Connect App on Windows 11 Wireless Display

Microsoft has introduced several new features in Windows 11. But sadly, many useful features of Windows 10 were removed in Windows 11. After the Windows 10 May 2020 update, Microsoft removed the Connect app. Using the Connect App, you can cast the screen of an Android or Miracast-enabled device to a Windows PC. Luckily, you can still install the Connect app on Windows 11. By enabling the Wireless Display feature it’s possible to get back the Connect App.

Wireless Display is now an optional feature of Windows 11. Which allows other devices to connect to the computer and project their screens. Ok, so without further delay, here’s how you can get back the missing connect App in Windows 10/11. You can also set up Miracast for Windows 11 and cast Windows screens to other devices, like Fire TV Stick.

The latest version of Windows 11 23H2 does offer a connect to a Wireless display option. So, you can use that as well. However, Connect app is good if you want to cast Android Screen to Windows Computer.

Enable Wireless Display to Install Connect App on Windows 11.

It’s quite easy to enable Wireless Display and get the Connect app back in Windows 11. You just have to enable the optional features from Windows 11 Settings App.

  1. First, press Windows + I Keyboard Shortcut to open the Settings App. Or, you can open the Settings app by clicking on the start button.
  1. Once the Settings App is open, from the left panel click on System. After that, click on ‘Optional features’ on the right side.

  1. You will then see the ‘View features’ button next to the ‘Add an optional feature’ label. Click on it.

  1. Now, the ‘Add an optional feature’ dialog box will appear. Scroll down till you find ‘Wireless Display’. You can also search for it.
  1. Click on Wireless Display and tick the checkbox next to ‘Wireless Display’. After that, click on ‘Next’.

  1. You will now get the Install option. Click on the Install button and Windows will automatically download and install this optional feature.

  1. Once installation is finished, it will show you the installed message. Do check the recent actions section.

  1. That’s it, now do restart your PC for the changes to take effect. That’s how you can Install Connect App on Windows 11.

How to use Connect App/Wireless Display.

You can simply search for the Connect App by using Windows 11 Search and start using it. But, I suggest you manage projection settings before starting to use the wireless display feature.

  1. Click on the search icon in Windows 11 and search the ‘Projection settings’. Once it appears in search results, click on Open.

  1. Projecting to this PC window will appear. Click on the first drop-down menu that says ‘Always Off (Recommended)’. And, change it to ‘Available everywhere’ OR ‘Available everywhere on secure networks. (I recommended you select the secure networks option.)

  1. Don’t make any other changes to the settings page. Just click on ‘‘Launch the Connect app to project to this PC’.
  1. That’s it, The Windows 11 Connect App will now get open in full screen.

  1. Now, use the Android cast feature to cast the Android screen to the PC. Make sure to enable wireless display in Android. Only after that, it will be able to detect your Windows computer to cast.

Just make sure both devices are on the same wireless network. So that, other devices can detect your computer display to cast. Ok, so that’s how you can install the Connect App in Windows 11 and cast Android or Miracast-supported devices screen to PC.
